Shelton, CT — River Road just got a little sweeter. The much-anticipated Glaze & Grind has officially opened its doors, offering locals a fresh new spot for handcrafted donuts, bagel creations, and expertly brewed coffee.
Founded by husband-and-wife duo Evan and Melissa Carter, Glaze & Grind started as a small weekend pop-up before finding its first permanent home right here in Shelton. Their mission? To bring back the joy of slow mornings — one cup and one bite at a time.
“We wanted to create a space where people can pause, connect, and enjoy something made with care,” says Melissa. “Every donut, every bagel, every cup of coffee — it’s all done by hand, with local ingredients whenever possible.”
The River Road location features a cozy, light-filled interior with warm wood accents and modern touches. Guests can enjoy a rotating menu of seasonal donuts (like Maple Bacon Bliss and Lemon Curd Crème), New York–style bagels, and signature lattes. There’s even a take-home coffee blend, roasted exclusively for Glaze & Grind.
Evan, who oversees the kitchen, adds, “We’re not just serving breakfast — we’re creating a morning ritual people actually look forward to.”
The café plans to host monthly “Taste & Tune” mornings featuring local musicians, as well as seasonal specials highlighting Connecticut-sourced ingredients.
